At Leadway, we believe that informed storytelling drives impact. That’s why we opened our doors at the Leadway Training Academy to host journalists from top publishing houses across Nigeria for a one-day intensive training session.
The aim? To provide media professionals with deeper insights into our products, services, and the broader financial and insurance landscape so they can pass on accurate, helpful information to their readers.
The session explored a wide range of topics, including:
- How Nigerians can access their pensions before retirement through Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVC)
- A breakdown of Leadway Health’s international health plans and the benefits they offer
- Updates on the evolving regulatory environment in the insurance sector
And so much more.

Emphasizing the importance of pensions, Mr. Babatunde Lamina, a Benefit Processing Specialist at Leadway Pensure, delivered an insightful session on Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs). He highlighted how AVCs serve as a powerful tool for boosting one’s Retirement Savings Account (RSA), noting that professionals can secure a more comfortable financial future by taking advantage of this option. “Individuals can contribute as much as a third of their salary through AVCs,” he explained, adding that it’s vital to keep employers informed when opting in.
Turning attention to insurance, Mr. Adekanmi Adelakun, Team Lead for Financial Exposure, Casualty, and Liability Claims at Leadway Assurance, helped demystify the often complex claims process. He walked attendees through each stage of a claim’s journey and remarked, “The claims process is like our display window. If customers are to trust us, they need a clear understanding of what their policies cover.”
Providing a regulatory update, Mrs. Temidayo Olugbesan, Compliance Lead at Leadway Assurance, shared recent changes affecting the insurance industry. She emphasized that, “With the evolving nature of the sector, new regulations are continuously being introduced to protect policyholders. It’s crucial for all players to stay informed and adaptable.”
On the healthcare front, Eniola Odukale, a Sales Executive at Leadway Health, highlighted the brand’s commitment to accessible, quality healthcare. “Our customer-first approach drives our expansive network of over 2,500 partner hospitals across Nigeria,” she said. “We also work with facilities in the UK, South Africa, and India—bridging healthcare gaps in underserved communities.”
We also hosted interactive Q&A sessions to clarify complex topics and foster open dialogue.
By the end of the training, the journalists left empowered, equipped, and energized to amplify these insights through their stories, ensuring that more Nigerians understand how to secure their future with the right financial tools.
